Money Talks — and Stalks

Despite making numerous promises previously about his determination to make Public Financing his modus operandi, Senator Obama has now conveniently decided that he no longer needs Public Financing and, thus, isn’t going to go that route. Oh, yes, they are trying to repackage his routine as “true” public financing because he supposedly has so many donors. But, no matter how many euphemisms they dream up, it just isn’t Public Financing!

My impression is that his U-Turn is representative of his philosophies and his future actions. When he wants a vote, he uses whatever ploy is necessary to convince the public to vote for him. First, he canonized Pastor Wright in his book. Then, he renounces Wright. First, he will talk with any world leader anytime without preconditions. Now, he suggests those were just words from the “heat of battle”! Since he never served in the military, what does he know about the heat of battle?

This new direction for gathering political funds is just another example of his opportunisitic personality. If he needs “you”, he will be your best buddy. When you are no longer necessary, good-bye.

Obviously, money will be vital to the Presidential campaign. Although money stalks all political candidates, we now know that, unfortunately for the American people, MONEY talks Obama’s language — political expediency!

Change or same old-same old?

Obama has stoutly maintained that he is bringing a new brand of politics to our country, if he is elected. He claimed there would be no more of the “old” type of politicking. Oh, no, he swore that there would be no more back room stuff for him!!!!

So, what was his first course of action after receiving the required number of delegates to become the nominee? I mean, what was his first action AFTER another purportedly wonderful speech?

He met Senator Clinton IN PRIVATE, IN SOMEBODY’S BACK ROOM!!!

Guess Back Room Politics are still in vogue for the Democrats and Senator Obama! Grandiose speeches to the contrary, it is more of the same old-same old political chicanery for Democrats and Senator Obama.

A sign of the times?

All the political pundits are predicting that Hillary will bow out gracefully after tomorrow’s final primaries. As someone who felt that her husband disgraced the office of the President and she was little better, I did not want her in the White House. I feared she would continue the unethical behaviour of her husband.

As it turns out, I needn’t have worried. The Democratic party, enthralled by Obama’s rhetoric and his being Black have done to the Clintons what no one else could do. The party that brags about being all inclusive has thrown out the first viable woman for the Presidency.

Hillary and Bill have been pushed aside by the party that they helped reinvigorate…..but I shed no tears for them. Nor will Obama gain my sympathy if he fails because he knows all too well that he is unqualified for the Presidency. He is a neophyte in Washington and the world, compared to either Hillary or John McCain. His only claim to fame is that he is a Black man (equally white although he seldom mentions it) with a wonderful speaking voice.

Unfortunately, the world really doesn’t listen to even a wonderful speaking voice. The other countries are all jostling for supremacy and will laugh up their sleeves if we inaugurate someone as inexperienced as Obama is.

It is a sorry state of affairs when someone with less than a full term in the Senate, no true other leadership skills or experience, and little in his resume besides the Harvard Law Review might assume the Presidency of the United States.

No, it is not Obama’s skills which are propelling him to the top. The media is afraid to say anything negative for fear they will be accused of racism. The Democratic power structure has jumped on the Obama bandwagon because they, too, fear a black backlash in their own careers. None of them can truly claim that Obama has the requisite skills to be a capable world leader. It is just easier to go along rather than to be left behind.

The era of independent thought ended when people like Pelosi, Reid, and Kennedy became the standard bearers for the Democratic Party. So, don’t be surprised that all the politicians clamor for Obama. Their opportunistic support is merely a sign of the times.

How to be a racist

Racism is currently a nasty word meaning that you base an opinion or action solely on someone’s ethnic background. It has become this century’s defining method of manhandling actions, words, and issues aside, if they don’t please the powers that be. Racism is used at every turn to trump a myriad of reasonable discussion points when the speaker doesn’t want to honestly discuss the issues.

So, how does racism become the instrument of striking down an opponent?

Last week, President Bush’s comment on appeasement potentially harming our country was considered racist because the PC (politically correct) crowd assumed that President Bush HAD to have been referencing Senator Obama.

Today, Senator Clinton made a historically correct comment about Bobbie Kennedy’s assasination and immediately the PC decided she had made a racist comment that threatened Senator Obama.

This is crazy. The PC assumes that only white people can be racists, but that belief is demonstrably untrue.

92% of black people in some states acknowledge that they voted for Obama, not Hillary. Statistically speaking, it is almost impossible to get much more than 50% of any group to agree to anything or anyone, so this vote is statistically impossible………….unless you consider race. Obama is black. 92% of blacks voted for him, not the other Democrat, Senator Clinton, who has almost the exact positions on most issues. Wasn’t that vote racist?

Have you noticed how often Obama reminds people that he is black? Is he? He is half black and half white because he had a white mother. Shouldn’t he be saying that he is white at least 50% of the time? He won’t because it is to his benefit to have the blacks united on his behalf. That is racist, too!

People should not react with bias toward any specific ethnic group, but rather face people as individuals. The PC crowd routinely claims racism if anyone disagrees with their position, because it is easier than having an honest discussion. All they have to do is claim someone made a racist statement and the media runs with the story until the world assumes the accusation is true.

Racism accusations are the easiest of all slurs to utter because no one makes you prove the accusation. But, by claiming racism at every turn, these PC people are creating so much dissension that our country is being split apart yet again. Do they care? I think not.

Until the use of racism as an attack vehicle stops being a good selling point for politicians, we can expect more such allegations, not less. Unfortunately, Senator Obama is proving that he, too, knows “how to be a racist.”

The new "low-down"

Democrats are furious that President Bush publicly stated that he is against appeasing terrorists. Their reply is to come out, in force, calling him names and denigrating him for this position. There is no sober discussion of what he meant, but an immediate assumption that he meant THEM, specifically Senator Obama!!!

And, the media faithfully continues the charade, just as if the Democrats were not at fault. President Bush is right and everyone knows that. But, for political advantage, the Democrats are going to pretend to be offended. This politization of our domestic and foreign policy is bread and butter to Democrats. They consistently impair our President’s ability to deal with our national security, whether he is home or abroad, and then turn to vitriolic attacks against him.

Unfortunately, the consequences always harm our country and its stature in the world. Their constant harranguing against President Bush makes other nations feel they, too, can continually assail our intentions and actions. The Democrats’ constant barrage against the President makes other countries feel free to jump on the raucous band wagon of disdain.

Democrats say they are just as patriotic as any American, but I disagree. It is unpatriotic to not defend our troops, especially while they are at war. It is unpatriotic to undermine our President, especially while we are at war, all in the name of winning the presidency in the next election. It is unpatriotic to do anything –whether it is name calling or outright lying — simply for political advantage.

How low-down can they get?

Egocentric?

Senator Obama is upset at something President Bush said while in Israel because he claims that President Bush was insulting HIM!

Does Obama truly believe that the President of the United States would use such a momentous occassion to insult Obama? The President was dismissing the idea that you can talk with terrorists and convince them of their own faulty logic and it probably never occurred to him that Obama would consider himself the target.

Egocentric? Oh, my yes. That word definitely defines Senator Obama.

Talk’s cheap

Politicians have always used the gift of blarney to inform the voting public of their own achievements, skills, and philosophies. This year, though, Obama has used the gift of gab to catapult himself into first place in the Democratic party.

What are his skills or achievements that would allow him to put his philosphy into place? Why is he so upset that one or two debate moderators would ask him “tough” questions?

In fact, he has not had time to develop the skills nor the achievements that would make him a good President. He might be charming and he speaks better than most; but, he has no experience in running any form of our government. He has never worn a uniform so he could not empathize with our soldiers nor could he run a good strategy session with our military leaders. He has never had to balance a state budget, so he doesn’t understand the intricacies of economics.

So, why should he be President? He uses his speaking ability to cover all his inadequacies. He uses words to attack those who would question his abilities, rather than explain WHY he could handle the presidency.

Oh, yes. He is a master orator. But, is he qualified to be President? The American voting public must scrutinize this talking head carefully to understand that the voice is not the man. The man is a charming, handsome orator. He dos not merit your vote just because of these qualities. After all, talk’s cheap.

Me think thou dost protest too much

Everybody has a gripe these days. The Democrats don’t like the President’s ______, well you name it. People are marching against China’s human rights record. Students are protesting that their student loans are too high. There are protests about the increase in foreclosures.

What do these have in common? Well, in most cases, these protestors expect the United States government to cure the ills of the world. No wonder the Democrats side with any and every protest against the current world situation. For, in truth, the Democrats brag about their many accomplishments, but can name few.

Instead of working toward better conditions in China, these protestors think all they have to do is yell a bit. Those people being foreclosed upon might have been defrauded by lenders, but more likely, they were greedy and seized the money, disregarding the possible consequences. The Democrats talk loftily, but usually want to solve all problems by throwing money at it! Their legacy will be, as with most protestors, mostly hot air.

The only cure for most of these problems is for those involved to set down their loud speakers and actively WORK toward solutions. If you made an unwise loan, well, that is up to you to make right, not the rest of the American citizens who are responsibly repaying their loans. Democrats should stop vilifying and start working for us.

So, to all the new “street people”, i.e., the protestors, be quiet! Most of us are tired of your griping with the expectation that someone ELSE will take care of your problems. Yelling, carrying signs, and clogging our streets won’t solve anything. Go home and think about solutions. Then, work toward those solutions.

Thanks, but no thanks

This week, Wisconsin elected a new Supreme Court justice, Gableman. He is reputed to be more conservative than the justice, Butler, that he beat. In today’s paper, a New York lib and a national lib both claimed that this was the “dirtiest, most low-down, and the worst for the country’s courts, of any race EVER”. Well, that’s not a quote, but it is pretty close.

These two “authorities” both claimed that all courts would suffer based on the tone of this campaign and the fact that a conservative won.

Well, here are a few facts:

1 – The people of Wisconsin voted 51-49% for Gableman . That margin is enough to show that Wisconsinites really DID want Gableman over Butler and that his victory was not an error in counting.

2 – Butler was appointed by Governor Doyle. He never won election to gain his seat. Maybe Wisconsinites really wanted HIM out!

3 – Libs, i.e., Democrats, always label any vote that is not to their liking as “dirty, worst, yada yada” type of affair. They always imply dire consequences to any race they lose. In fact, they always label EVERYTHING! And, everything that is not their idea is wrong, wrong, wrong.

4 – They never give anyone other than themselves credit for understanding that conservatives really give individuals more power over their own affairs and that the liberal philosophy would soon have the government even determining what we eat! Witness one New York theory that was floated a while back.

So, Mr. New York man, and Mr. National Expert, you are wrong. Wisconsinites are smart. We are smart enough to know what we want, why we want it, and how to get it. We don’t need you evaluating our votes as something other than good citizens joining together to make our state a better place.

The next time you think we need your opinions, think again! Thanks, but no thanks.

Teaching a Lesson

As a teacher, I was never fond of punishing the entire class for the misbehaviour of one student. However, that is just what is happening in two very important areas — one economic and one political .

Because some investment brokerages (they are financial institutions, but NOT BANKS) have made poor loans, now the entire financial industry is paying the price. The money we banks paid the Fed to run and regulate our industry — that of Banking — is now bailing out a completely separate institution. And, Congress is already agitating for MORE regulation of ALL financial institutions! Believe me, banks are already highly regulated and, in fact, did not make the loans that are now causing such alarm in “high places”. But, because one “student” has made a mistake, all of us will suffer.

Secondly, the Democratic party is fighting itself about who will win the nomination for the Presidency. The controversy between whether the popular vote or the delegate vote takes the prize is up in the air, despite the rules being quite clear that having the superior number of delegates means “you” win.

Now, Senator Nelson of Florida has proposed throwing out the entire election system for the Presidential race, i.e., creating regional primaries and eliminating the electoral college! He seems to feel that the mistakes of the Democratic party should somehow influence not only how all primaries are run, but how the entire country votes!!!!

Once again, someone wants to punish everyone for the misbehaviour of “one” student.

Maybe it is time to teach the powers that be to scrutinize ONLY the misbehaving parties, not all of us. Most of us are following the rules and don’t need time-outs. Let those who have not followed the rules wear the dunce’s hat.
