More on "their" money……

Do you have health care? We do.
Who pays for it? We do.

Does your neighbor have health care?
If you do, odds are that your neighbor does, too.

Does everyone have health care? No.
Should everyone have health care? Yes.

Who should pay for health care? The ones who already pay for their own or the ones who are not currently paying for health care?

That is the crux of the issue. Should we, who have put money aside for years and foregone certain luxuries, in order to provide for our families, now have to pay for someone else? It hardly seems fair.

This, however, is what Congress is trying to pass without the American public’s knowledge. And, worse yet, they are trying to make American tax payers foot the bill for illegal immigrants!!!!!

This Congress pledged to be honest and aboveboard in all matters. So far, they have wasted more time on inquiries into red herrings than any previous Congress. They have accomplished so little that their approval ratings are the lowest of the low.

Maybe this Congress should begin to look into ways to save the American tax payer money rather than on how to sneak new costs into the budget. The tax burden is already incredibly high for many of us. It is insulting to now ask us to pay for the health care of people who are not even American citizens.

America’s money

Whose dollar bill is that in your wallet? Is it yours? Or, is it your elected representative’s?

If Hillary has her way, it will be hers. She believes that any imbalances of income should be “corrected” by robbing you to pay your neighbor’s bills. Of course, she doesn’t say this very often.

If Congress has its way, each Senator or Representative will decide where that dollar goes, rather than you. And, the theft might happen where you will least expect it — in an earmark program. Earmarks are just Congress’ sneaky method of spending our money in a way where we won’t notice. That is why this procedure is hidden under layers of bureaucracy where you won’t see it often.

The solution to this grand larceny is to have every, single piece of legislation voted on individually, based on the legislation’s merits. Amendments must be germane to the issue of the legislation. For example, if the issue at hand is whether to demand voter identification, only an amendment that deals with the costs of such programs should be included. Neither peanut farmers in Georgia nor aircraft manufacturers in California should be allowed to tack on amendments giving them our money.

The American public is savvy enough to decide where it spends the money it earns. Congress should start acting more like our representatives than a band of thieves!

In the face of a liberal…….

Today’s press conference by President Bush once again highlighted David Gregory’s absolute disdain for the Presidency and our President. Although Mr. Gregory might justify his insulting questions as being “hard-hitting”; in fact, the comments he makes are more in the line of a political diatribe than a real question.

So, what does it matter if a liberal journalist routinely insults the President? If you’re a liberal, you see nothing wrong with harassing a President who is known to be honest and hard-working. If you’re a liberal, you want to see President Bush humiliated in order to project your own philosophy rather than realizing that such divisive tactics harm our country and our military. If you’re a liberal, you just want to win, regardless of the cost to the country.

For the rest of the American population, Mr. Gregory’s animus toward President Bush is just another opportunity lost by the media to ask about issues that affect Americans and our well-being. In Mr. Gregory’s “in your face”, take-no-prisoners approach, we see a man bent on forcing his own views down the throat of everyone else, including us and the President of the United States.

Let’s face it. Mr. Gregory’s attitude sounds a lot like some other hoodlums we all know and fear — the radical, Islamic terrorists!

The American people

Unlike the days of yore when Carter pushed the giveaway of the Panama Canal down the throats of the unwilling American public, and then donated years of maintenance by America to the canal, the American people spoke up about illegal immigration.

Guess what? We don’t want illegal immigrants to stay. We don’t want illegal immigrants to have a free pass, and free life, just because they have a hard life in their own country.

What do we want? We want our country to enforce our laws on all those who try to come here. There was no free pass to American citizenship for our grandparents and there should not be now. The greatness of America rests on our adherence to laws being applied equally to all.

So, Congress, take heed. You are our representatives, not our bosses. In fact, you are our employees and the bosses, the American people, have told you to tighten the borders, send the illegal immigrants home, and stop acting like mini-dictators!

Bush 3 times more popular than Congress

Yes, according to the latest polls, only 14% of people now approve of Congress. 42% approve of President Bush.

Apparently, President Bush is more in tune with the American people than those loud, crass politicians on the Democratic side of the aisle.

Say good night, Nancy and Harry. And, don’t go away mad, just go away.

Send illegal immigrants home!

Illegal immigration has become little more than a game for politicians. Few of them are willing to stand up and say that, first and foremost, American laws MUST BE OBEYED. Some of the reasons for not mandating that all illegal immigrants be deported are so bogus that you wonder how anyone can say them without laughing. Here are my thoughts on some of these specious arguments.

1 – Maintaining a strong border between the United States and Mexico is not dependent upon whether millions of illegal immigrants are allowed to stay, or not. The money is already budgeted and there are many Americans who would appreciate working on the wall!

2 – Allowing illegal immigrants to stay, even with penalties, sets a dangerous precedent. We are a country governed by laws, yet few in public authority are enforcing the immigration laws. Even a child would question why one person has to obey a law and another person, not even a citizen, is allowed to disobey a law.

3 – The media has exploited the illegal immigrant problem for their own gain rather than addressing the facts of the case. This has given illegal immigrants a sense of entitlement rather than gratitude to be here. Why else would illegals protest openly without fear of being deported? Why else would they harass American citizens without fear of imprisonment? In any other country, these illegal immigrants would be afraid to show their face on tv; but, here in America, they march, flaunt the Mexican flag on tv, and generally, show their disdain for our laws.

4 – The financial burden of “hosting” these illegals is mind-boggling. They flood the emergency wards. They usurp welfare funds intended for American citizens. They insist that all notices be printed in Spanish, as well as English. Now, the state of Wisconsin is discussing whether illegal immigrants should have the right to college funds intended for Wisconsin residents!

Unfortunately, whenever anyone complains about the illegal immigrants, they are considered racists or uncaring. It is not racist to expect a guest in your home to follow your rules, especially when you are paying the bills. It is not racist to protect your home or homeland from strangers who might threaten everything you cherish. It is not mean to believe that everyone should work for their position in society and not be swept in because some politician wants that vote.

At one time, becoming an American citizen was considered an achievement of the highest order. My own grandparents crossed the ocean to make a better life for themselves and their children. But, they followed the rules and passed through Ellis Island with other immigrants. Once here, they learned English and worked hard to pay their own bills. Never did my grandparents expect a free ride. Never did they expect any special provisions to be made for their welfare unless it also improved the general lot of their neighbors.

Attitude is the single most dividing attribute between immigrants who came here legally in years past and those today who want to be admitted without paying the price of becoming a citizen legally.

Americans need to speak out against anyone who breaks our laws. And, we need to tell the politicians that the illegal immigration “issue” is too important for them to use as a vote-getting machine.

Politicians have done too much talking and not enough listening. It is time to insist that “We, the people” decide this issue through a national referendum.

A nut from the peanut farm

So, once again, Carter denunciated President Bush, Prime Minister Blair, yada yada yada. What else is new?

Former President Carter has always held the view that only he knows the gospel truth and, regardless of good manners, only he has the right to criticize everyone else.

Well, unfortunately for him, he will be remembered as little more than a peanut farmer who, through a quirk of fate, was elected President. His own legacy as president involves giving away the Panama Canal and failing to rescue our fellow Americans who were being held captive. It is no wonder that he wants to castigate others in the fleeting hope that his own failures will be obscured by the dust of history.

Carter is a mean-spirited, angry, and arrogant man who labels himself a Christian, but acts and talks like a hate monger! Fortunately, no one listens to him anymore…if they ever did. When you hear these vicious comments from Carter, remember the source. And, then, forget the comments and the man.

A Russian Rumbles…thanks to the Democrats

Putin, who heretofore has been labeled a “friend” of America, has just vehemently denounced our foreign policy. What would give this Russian, who leads a country with a struggling economy and little foreign clout, the audacity or the motive to vilify America? Russia needs our economic and technological aid desperately, but, still, Putin delivered a stinging message about America.

The answer is very simple. Why shouldn’t he insult us when even our own Democratic congressmen and women continually do so! Why shouldn’t he feel free to question our national integrity when the Democrats daily assail the character of our President?

Attacks by foreign leaders will be part of the legacy of the current Democratic party. In their zeal to have one of their own in the presidency, they are destroying the very reputation of their own president and thus destroying much of America’s influence in the world. Whatever goodwill could come from the United States’ generosity in fighting natural disasters or disease throughout the world is lost when the Democrats themselves critique every action this administration takes.

Their mud-slinging campaign has created many problems for our country in dealing with other nations. They claim to be partiotic Americans, but they do everything possible to destroy the faith and credibility of the American government!

The Democrats feel no shame. Their only “cause” is to elect a Democrat in 2008. To that end, nothing else matters. Putin, and other leaders, will continue to attempt to tear down our nation in order to build up their own influence.

Thanks to the Democrats, the only question will be whether Russian, or Chinese, or Korean greed trumps the greed of the Democratic party!

Surprised?

The media has been bashing Bush for his entire presidency. That media includes the tv commentators who read their pre-digested, pre-written script as though it came from Moses. That media includes most newspapers and most periodicals which are afraid to give any account of world events that does not coincide with the viewpoint of people like Mr. Soros. Surprised? If you are, then you should remember that most of the news media are liberals and have a vested interest in denouncing President Bush.

People like Chris Matthews, Lou Dobbs, the Hollywood crowd, and many Democrats routinely vilify President Bush. They have maligned his intelligence. They claim that he is a liar and a cheat, as well as a conspirator. No slur nor insult is too vile for them to hurl the direction of our President. Surprised? You shouldn’t be. The Democrats are frantically searching for a means of ensuring that the next President comes from their ranks. In their desperation, they don’t care whom they tear down or whether their greed destroys an American ideal or America itself. THEY JUST WANT TO BE ELECTED.

The problem with such continual slurs is more than the fact that the insults are untrue. It is unworthy of any politician to deliberately misrepresent an opponent and try to make that opponent into “the” enemy. It is unAmerican for a party (in this case, the Democrats) to use character assassination merely to get elected.

So, now the “news” is the low poll ratings of President Bush. Surprised? If you have listened carefully to the news for the last few years, you shouldn’t be. The constant mudslinging by Democrats was bound to have some effect. President Bush is a good man, but you would never know it if the media have their way.

But, regardless of the effect on President Bush’s ratings, this ridiculous and flagrant name-calling by the Democrats must stop. Democrats should start acting like mature adults and discuss issues facing our country rather than simply obfuscating facts with insults. And, the public should tell the media that they had better report the news and not make it. Surprised? I hope not.

Maybe it’s time for partisan media and irresponsible politicians to be surprised.

Who are we?

America has been called the melting pot of the world. But, the meld is no longer working. Today we have: Congress’ Black Caucus; the Oneida Nation; the Menominee nation; Japanese-Americans; NAACP; National Organization of Women; Gay Americans; — and a myriad of other groups who segregate themselves by their ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation rather than by their country. The only people who not allowed to form a representative group are the white males, age 25 – 50, because that particular delineation is considered discriminatory in today’s world.

Why are we increasingly divided? Why do many choose to be identified by their ethnicity when others using that same ethnicity are considered racist? Why has America been having trouble assimilating these diverse groups into one cohesive entity?

The main reason is greed. Yes, there is money to be made and power to be gained by dividing the American people into easily identifiable groups. Once you can delineate a sector of the American voting population, you can then buy their votes. But, first, you have to separate people and make them unhappy with their status. You must create the impression that someone else has dishonorably gained their financial position and that the other’s money SHOULD belong to EVERYONE. Then, you tax the wealthier groups to redistribute to the poorer groups and, in the process, you be sure to let the recipients KNOW that this largesse comes from YOU, not the pockets of your neighbors.

This is a good system for the politicians who need votes. But, in the process, we are creating a divided country, not a united America.

Congress was formed to represent the entire American populace and not to become an aristocracy of power-hungry and egocentric men and women. If America wants to survive, we have to unite behind our troops who fight to keep terrorism away from our shores. We have to stop using the problems of any group as a voting base for the next election. We have to understand that the success of one person is not the reason for the failure of another. And that differences between people should not be a podium for politicians to build a campaign on.

We have to remember that there are no Japanese Americans or African Americans. There are Americans who are Japanese, just as there are Americans who are black. There are Americans who are gay, and those who are not. There are Americans like me who are descended from immigrants and those who claim to have lived here forever. But, none of that should matter.

If we wish to move into the future successfully, we have to stop emphasizing our differences, and start using our commonalities. A strong, united America is better able to face an increasingly hostile world than an America which is so self centered that it can’t see the threat without.

So, who are we?

WE ARE AMERICA and damned proud of it!
