Obama — a Slave to a Lie

Selma THEN — History.

Selma NOW  – a continuation of a false narrative.

Obama says that the White House was built by “us” — slaves!

http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/obama-we-re-slaves-who-built-white-house_879207.html

Nothing could be further from the Truth….but, as my Dad used to say….it makes a good story!

Actually, the White House might have been built with blacks and they might have been slaves.  Every nation has had, and some still do have,  slaves.  Slavery was a shameful epoch which politicians trot out every time they want to create a divide between today’s Blacks and the rest of us Americans.  Obama relies on this Lie whenever he is in political difficulties.  And, with all the scandals that have evolved during his tenure, I can see why he would want to make Blacks think they are the aggrieved party and deserve MORE….of whatever. Class warfare and racist rhetoric have always been his bread and butter.

Still, it is unfair to label today’s Americans as racist for what happened before they were born.  Today, we are supposed to be ashamed of our ancestors for keeping slaves;  but, our grandparents lived in a different culture.  It is unfair to judge them by today’s standards.  And, through affirmative action, and the growth of our collective consciousness, Blacks have become an integral part of our country and culture.  There really are no limits to what ANY citizen can accomplish, if he/she only tries.  That is a Truth exemplified in many Blacks who have “made it” by their own efforts, and some through affirmative action.  Look at Clarence Thomas, a Supreme Court Justice.  Look at Charles Payne of FOX Business Channel.  Look at Thomas Sowell, a highly regarded economist.  Look at all of the Blacks who have succeeded:  Condaleeze Rice;  Colin Powell;  Tiger Woods, etc. The list is endless.   There is  just no limit to what a person, of any color, can do in America. So, why perpetuate the myth that Blacks are still being discriminated against?  Well, it makes for an easy “out” for those who rely upon the Government to make others pay for what one person has failed to do.

Yes,  today’s generation of Blacks should be cognizant of their ancestors’ sacrifices.  And, yes, some of those ancestors were slaves.  However, today’s Black citizens are NOT, and NEVER HAVE BEEN slaves!   And, today’s Blacks did NOT build the White House.  Black citizens, like White citizens and Asian citizens and every other ethnic citizen, have accomplished great things in our country.  But, it is a LIE EXTRAORDINAIRE to claim that today’s Blacks live in the same culture as slaves did.  And, it is unfortunate that Obama continues to divide the nation into Black and White.  When he perpetuates that lie, he always continues the LIE  that being Black in America automatically means being a “have not” while  being White means you are not only a “have”, but that you have contributed to the suppression of Blacks.

When I was a child and faced adversity, my parents would tell me to “get over it and get on with it”.  Obama, who is the recipient of America’s largesse, should be telling all Americans, including Blacks, to “get over it and get on with it!”  He should NOT be dividing Blacks from Whites, just to get a political advantage.

So, saying that “WE”, meaning today’s Blacks, built the White House is not only laughable, but it is a LIE.

Harking back to Obama’s own words,  “If the White House was built, We  — TODAY’S BLACKSDID NOT BUILD IT.

Affirmative Action – the “New Deal”

The other day, I made a comment to someone about my dissatisfaction with the results of the Presidential election.  Immediately, this other person accused me of racism.  And, no matter how many reasons, pretty good reasons to my way of thinking, that I gave, this person insisted my vote had to be based on racism. That is an untrue charge and that person refused to accept my arguments because he didn’t recognize the sweeping, societal changes that have occurred.  In today’s America, a person should be able to choose a candidate, or employee, or friend, based on the individual’s personal qualities, and not the skin color.  To blatantly label any decision not favoring a given ethnic group is racist.

We Americans have changed since the Civil Rights movement began.  We began financial, governmental and legal policies to erase the effects of slavery and the discrimination that stemmed from it.  One response, affirmative action , attempted to reduce  discrimination in college entrances, job promotions, sports, and almost every sphere of American society.  Personally, I think affirmative action in its original form is unAmerican.  Good governmental policies should never hurt one group in order to help another, especially when the helping hand usually meant welfare.  No, market forces actually drove discrimination away.  Discrimination disappeared because it wasn’t economically feasible to keep talented people out of the work force or schools, based on their ethnicity.  After all, we need the most skilled person in every job!

Now, we have a President elect who is half black.  Certainly the presidency carries the greatest prestige of almost any job in the world — and that fact should provide positive proof that discrimination no longer is a determining factor for the majority of Americans!

With Senator Obama’s election, a Black man or Asian woman or Hispanic or just about anyone knows that he/she can achieve whatever he sets out to do in America.  For the last eight years, President Bush’s hiring policies were mostly ignored, but he was a classic example of someone who recognized  an individual’s talents, not the color of package those talents came in.  All of these changes show that Americans want to move past discrimination.  Affirmative action, as originally designed,  no longer is needed and should be eliminated so that we choose the “best”,  available person for every job without consideration of skin color.

It is time for affirmative action to be redefined to mean actively seeking the best person for the job or position….affirming that someone is the right person for the job. Black, Asian, or Hispanic people should not be given extra points just for being non-White because that ultimately destroys their achievement if they succeed.  No.  All should compete on a level playing field and even a White person should have an equal opportunity to compete. Let’s leave racism, or suggestions of racism behind.  Affirmative action can, and should, be the “New Deal”.

Racism & Driscrimination

So here is the long of the short as to why I am writing a post about racism. Someone where I work who is black, got a promotion because she went and bitched that the only reason she was not getting a promotion was because she’s black. Now if that was the case, then yes, that is bad. But, that is not the case. This person is loud-mouthed, comes in late everyday, has said things about people that were thought to be confidental to other people. Some of those things could have had very serious impact on some peoples lives.

Every god-damned time a black person or minority doesn’t get a job, it must be because they are being discriminated against. Sorry, doesn’t work for this guy. A great example: The NFL doesn’t have enough black coaches. Ok, and the NFL doesn’t have enough white running backs either. If you don’t get a job, it may be because you just aren’t the best person for the job.

How can the UW-Madison start accepting people based on race and ethnicity vs. their GPA and ACT scores? Because people try to be politically correct. Well PC people are more racist and discriminatory than us real world people. Race or gender should not be a consideration for admission for school, or anywhere else in this world. Why not when people apply to school, all their personal information is taken into a computer, and they are assigned a number? Then you select the best 100 people. If they are all white, well then I guess the smartest people are white. If they are black, I’d have no problem with that. Isn’t the point of a University or company to have the best applicants on the job?

The best man for the job, doesn’t get the job. It’s the man that cries racism that gets the job.

“Racism is not a color, it is an idea.” – Name Withheld

To clarify the quote above, it states that to qualify as racism, you don’t attach a color to the definition. If you get a job based on color then that is racism, even if you are a minority getting the job. Just because you are a minority you don’t get any special passes in my book, nor should you in life.
